We measure our success in actual lives changed.

These stories are a testament to the difference that we can make when we come together for them.

Cleft Lip Surgery for a Young Girl in 2024

A young girl from Agape has received her first surgery to repair her cleft lip.

She now has ongoing procedures left to reconstruct her lip, ears, nose, and teeth, to improve both her appearance and confidence. She will also work with a speech therapist as part of her recovery.

For the first time, she is attending school this year. Her story is a reminder that anything is possible. We look forward to supporting her as she bravely moves forward, excited for all that she will accomplish.

Volunteer Story:

Marisca

It’s so important for children to feel noticed, loved, and appreciated. Even though I only speak Dutch with them, they seem to understand the deeper meaning behind my words: I see you, I hear you, I love you, and I’m so glad you’re here. These small affirmations, repeated often, help build their confidence and sense of belonging.

The nannies are incredible too. Their care and dedication create a loving environment where the children can thrive. When I play with the kids, I make sure to give each one my full attention, one at a time. It’s a chance to teach them patience and to show them that they matter.

Seeing the joy in their eyes reminds me why this work is so meaningful. Every interaction is a chance to leave a positive mark on their lives.

Volunteer Story:

Rissa

My name is Rissa and I spent almost three years total serving as a volunteer at Agape Home.

I had the privilege to do many roles during my time there, from teaching English, to taking care of babies, to writing newsletters, to helping host other volunteers, it was all such a blessing to be a part of.

I built some really special relationships with the children, as well as the staff, that I think of often and miss deeply. I cannot say enough about what a gift it was to be a part of all God is doing at Agape and I will forever cherish my days there and look forward to making plans to go back again.
